    bocas indomables / untamable mouths

bocas indomables / untamable mouths (Kiyo Gutiérrez) is an immersive installation that explores memory, myth, and resistance through embodied encounters with material, mythology, mother-goddesses, dreams, and the voices of rebellious waters, creatures and women.

Rooted in ritual-performances staged along the L.A. River and the rivers that mark the U.S.–Mexico border, this multidisciplinary project draws on indigenous knowledge, multispecies collaboration, and speculative fabulation to challenge dominant water narratives. Through wearable sculpture, video, sound, photography, installation and natural dyeing, bocas indomables invites audiences to rethink our relationship to material, land and storytelling—revealing how colonial histories continue to shape the present.  The exhibition is on view from April 18 to 25.

    Opening Reception: Thursday, April 17, 6 to 9:00 p.m.
