Cai Guo-Qiang’s obsession with gunpowder is the focus of a new exhibition at USC Pacific Asia Museum in Pasadena. Cai Guo-Qiang: A Material Odyssey is a journey through the artist’s four-decade career creating paintings and drawings with the explosive material. Cai embraces the unpredictable energy of gunpowder to bridge the gap between what he describes as the “seen and unseen” world. It is open now and runs through June 15.
