Anthony Bailey
Anthony Bailey is the founding dean of USC Bovard College, which supports individuals during key academic and career transitions through online and hybrid programs, including graduate degrees in high-demand fields and specialized programs for international, pre-college and other student populations.
In addition, Bailey serves as USC’s vice president for Global and Online Initiatives. He collaborates with USC’s 23 schools to build the university’s brand, recruitment operations and learning programs worldwide, overseeing the university’s international activities, nine global offices and the Office of International Services. Bailey also holds oversight responsibility for USC’s online professional programs and launched USC Online, which develops, operates and markets online programs across the university.
He is an associate professor of clinical entrepreneurship at the USC Marshall School of Business and provides strategic advice to firms in the education sector.
Before joining USC, Bailey built Kaplan International Colleges, a chain of 44 schools with operations in 20 countries, through organic growth and acquisitions. He also led Kaplan’s medical and nursing businesses. Prior to Kaplan, Bailey was a group brand manager at the Ford Motor Company, during which time he launched a wholly owned e-commerce subsidiary in Brazil.
Bailey started his career at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and remains an active scientific diver and instructor. He is a member of USC’s Diving Control Board and the American Academy of Underwater Sciences.
Bailey received bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science at the University of Miami, his MBA from the University of Virginia’s Darden Graduate School of Business Administration and his doctorate in higher education management from the University of Pennsylvania.
