As we begin the Spring 2026 semester, I am excited to announce that active USC students, faculty, and staff can now explore generative artificial intelligence with USC’s ChatGPT Edu workspace. Over the next few days, you will receive an invitation from OpenAI to activate your ChatGPT Edu account.

The questions you raise, the innovation you highlight, and the conversations you spark constantly reminded us why this work matters so much: because we're not just participating in the future of AI; together, we're shaping it.
At USC’s recent AI Summit, we shared an exciting announcement: As part of our commitment to expanding equitable and responsible AI, ChatGPT Edu will be available for our university use in 2026. All active USC students, faculty, and staff (including Keck Medicine of USC) will gain unlimited access to ChatGPT Edu, which includes OpenAI's most advanced models like GPT-5.
I’m energized and inspired by the extraordinary interest and enthusiasm throughout our community surrounding this week’s inaugural USC AI Summit. With standing-room-only attendance and many more people participating online, the momentum is palpable for us to play a leadership role in the higher education artificial intelligence revolution — creatively, quickly, ethically, and responsibly.
